There's no place like home.

There's no place like home.
Home is where my husband and I reside; wherever that may be.

The Simple Woman's Daybook 24 June 2013

Outside my window...the sun is shining and the heat is already shimmering up from the pavement in front of the house.  I would hazard a guess and say that the temp is already in the 70's and the humidity is around 80 percent.  It's going to be a steamy one!

I am thinking....about the way that members of the same family can take such divergent paths in life.

I am thankful...for the little people in my life.  Their presence is what keeps me examining myself and keeps me from stagnating and getting too set in my ways.

From the kitchen...look out folks today is "get creative with leftovers while at the same time not heating up the kitchen" day.  That translates out to I haven't a clue what's for supper but it will be filling.

I am wearing....a tank and pj pants.  No need to change yet since I have PT in the pool this morning.

I am PT in a little while and then I hope to stay at home all the rest of the day.  It is countdown time till I have to think about preparing for my trip across this country to visit my sons.

I am hearing...the dryer working on its first load of the day, Layn chatting with MK while he sits on his potty, and MK loading the washer with the next load.

Around the house...everything is wiped, vacuumed, washed and tidied.  MK and I make a great team when it comes to the Monday morning routine around here.

One of my favorite things...watching Layn indulging his imagination.

A few plans for the rest of the week...PT, appointments, adoration, family, food, and fun. Doesn't that list just make you want to be a part of it all?

Here is a picture thought that I am sharing with you...
We are never too busy to just hang out.

The Simple Woman's Daybook 17 June 2013

Outside my window...the sun is shining brightly and the air is perfumed with the heavy, sweet scent of the peonies in the front yard.  The weatherman is only calling for a 30% chance of rain this afternoon.  Does that mean that we have 70% chance of sunshine all day?  I sure hope so but my math skills have always been a little shaky.

I am thinking....about hello's and goodbye's.  For the last three weeks I have been spending time in the pool at our local rehab center.  I have to say that I am going to miss some of the people that I have been spending time with.  The aquatherapist is one of the most caring people that I have ever met.  Also quite a few of my fellow patients are fine examples of the human spirit.

I am thankful...for a daughter who is loving, self-less, giving, and thoughtful.

From the kitchen...there is a big question mark hanging in the air.  No leftovers are in existence since everything that MK prepared yesterday is gone.  The meal she prepared is going to be a tough act to follow.

I am wearing....shorts and a tee shirt.

I am stay home for the rest of the day.  I have four quilt blocks to finish then a top to set together.  My goal is to get this sampler quilt together so I can get it onto the frame tomorrow.

I am hearing...Melissa putting newly dried herbs into jars in the kitchen, Layn talking to himself while he plays out on the front porch, and Elton John singing in the background.

Around the house...the cleaning is done, laundry is out on the lines, and Melissa has a whole bunch of oregano drying. Sound like a good day to get things done.

One of my favorite things...watching young children discover their world.

A few plans for the rest of the the best life that I can.

The Simple Woman's Daybook 10 June 2013

Outside my window...this isn't really appropriate for a heading since I sit on the porch this morning.  At this time of year the outside calls to me the way fresh grass calls to the cows.  The cocktail of odors that greets me whenever I step out the door is merely the appetizer in a banquet of sights, sounds and changing vistas that make up my day.  Currently the peonies, horseradish blossoms, and freshly turned earth make me lift my nose and drink in the breeze as it blows across the length of the porch.  Finches, cowbirds, and sparrows in the trees calling to have the feeders filled vie for attention with the wind chimes and Layn singing his morning song.  It would be so easy to simply spread my blanket and make myself comfy when the sun starts to set and resolve never to go inside again.

I am thinking...of memories that come without bidding and others that stubbornly refuse to resurface.

I am thankful for...togetherness and time to make memories. Not only for myself but also for those who follow.

From the kitchen...skabetti and meatbulbs!  Thank you papa for all the meatballs you made yesterday.

I am wearing....sweats and a tee shirt.  PT this morning so I have to be able to get in and out of my bathing suit.

I am PT this morning and then stay home for the rest of the day.

I am reading....a new book about The Mass.

I am hearing...Layn and Mate chatting with each other as they go about doing chores.  The breeze has the wind chimes making a lot of music while the birds compete for top billing.  Off in the distance I hear a farmer either working ground or possibly spraying his corn.  It's that time of the year when the background music of my life is provided by John Deere, Case IH, and New Holland.

Around the house...except for the birthday banner still hanging in the dining room all evidence of Savannah's party have been picked up and cleared away.

One of my favorite things....the fact that you never know from day to day what you are going to see around here.  As I sit here a fertilizer truck and sprayer just pulled in across the road. I guess I know what the neighbors are going to be doing on the fields.

A few plans for the rest of the week...going to be a quiet one around here.  Melissa has to work every day so Layn, MK and I will try to stay home as much as we can.  We like it that way anyhow.

Here is a picture thought that I am sharing with you...
Last Tuesday was our 30th anniversary.  Our wonderful daughter packed a picnic dinner and we took off for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament then to our favorite park to have a quiet evening together.

The Simple Woman's Daybook 3 June 2013

Outside my window....the hot muggy weather is gone, replaced by cooler more seasonable days.  The soft sounds of the wind chimes and the breezes blowing through the trees are a welcome change from the oppressive stillness of the past week.

I am thinking...about carefree days and days full of responsibility and obligation.  Don't let it get around but I think I might be growing up.  The days of obligation seem to be winning out over the days with nothing planned and nothing to do.

I am thankful...for sunshine and rainbows that follow the storms.  I know that God has blessed me every time that my sons call or my daughter smiles.

From the kitchen...there will be something on the table tonight, I just don't know what it is quite yet.

I am wearing...warm and cozies!  It's a mite chilly this morning but I am happy for the relief so bundling up is in the cards for today.

I am PT this morning and to run a few errands after then it is back home to enjoy my family and my life.

I am reading....about St. Monica, a woman close to my heart.  For the first few days after school ended I was so overwhelmed by the idea that I could read anything I wanted that I wasn't able to read anything. Now I cannot seem to stop reading.

I am hearing....Layn chattering away as he helps his Auntie feed the dogs,  Melissa get the laundry machines going for the day, and MK's rousing military workout music playing in the other room.

Around the house....Monday morning things are happening.

One of my favorite things...the routineness of our days that at the same time offer room for the surprises of large families and friends.

A few plans for the rest of the week....except for standing appointments I am out of the planning mode for a few weeks.

Here is a picture thought that I am sharing with you....
Papa and Layn worked hard together on Saturday to build raised beds so MK can plant the rest of the garden today.  What would papa do without all the help he gets from Layn?
