Smiles

My husband used to tell me that the only makeup or fancy dress I needed to wear was a smile. He had a smile that could make the biggest pain in my heart go right away.
Since his passing I have spent a lot of time thinking about smiles.  The pandemic and all the mask wearing fiasco has made the commodity that is a smile has become rarer than hens teeth.
There are all kinds of smiles in the world and I find that I respond to them in different ways.
There are those who smile with all their teeth (my husband was one of this type) and even when I see this on the face of kids it can still make me feel like everything is all right.
My granddaughter, Kaycie, smiles with her whole body. She can go from shivering and trembling all over to a full out cartwheel in seconds. This kind of smile makes my heart swell within me and makes me feel privileged to be a witness to it.
John smiles with his eyes along with his mouth. His smile is a gift that cannot be valued. Smiles like his make me feel hopeful and satisfied. All is right with a world where the eyes get involved.

This little boy’s smile is in a group all its own. Every smile is accompanied by a giggle.  When I see a child smiling like this I see the face of God.

I bet your husband had-has one of those wonderfully-fantastic big-toothy smiles that I also love like you do.

What a precious entry! It looks like it should be in a little book on my coffee table with all the different kinds of smiles you have observed.

Yes, on that last one...
