Monday morning musings

What I am hearing...the furnace just came on and MK is shuffling through some papers while the printer is spewing forth its latest creation.

Outside my window...it is a typical Central New York waiting day. That's what I call the days where it is cold, cloudy, and nothing is coming from the sky. It feels as if the earth is waiting either for the next snow fall or the sun to make an appearance.

What I am wearing...once again I overslept and so I am in my nice cozy pajamas with a warm sweater.

What I'm thinking...lists. Lists of jobs to finish are going through my mind. Reminders to check the weather forecast for the rest of the week and people that I need to see. Then there are the lists of what goes in my car to take with me and what can be packed away in storage. Lately my brain feels like one of those wheels that hamsters run on and never get anywhere.

What I am learning...the capacity of the human spirit and mind for change. In these past months I have learned about true caring. I am continually shocked and amazed by the people around me and how much they care for both myself and my family. Saturday evening when I stopped to bid farewell to some of our neighbors I was both flattered and humbled when the husband gave me his blessing when we hugged goodbye. It is these little moments and gestures that have carried and sustained me since my husband's accident. After a lifetime spent trying to be invisible and unremarkable to find that I was neither of those things always startles me.

What I am hoping...to clear up some personal errands today, spend time with the farm family, help MK do some final sorting and packing, and simply to sit.

What I am working on...I have exactly 16 rows left of the baby blanket I am making. I need to get that done so that I can leave it behind for the new baby that will be born soon.

What I am planning...to make it to the end of this day so that I can rest my head and give it all back to God for the blessing and sanctification of those I love.

Here are some picture thoughts for today...

A few short weeks ago we decided to ditch formal school and spend the morning in the woods.

Of course these nuts didn't object in the least.

I love this picture of Christopher. It sums up his personality so perfectly. He will spend his whole life eschewing the beaten path to walk on the edge.

What every boy needs, an Auntie who is willing to fool around, explore, and generally make them feel they are the most important people in all of her world.

Hello Ann, I enjoyed hearing about your day. Your daughter reminds me of my Godmother when she was very young, a similar facial structure and look. : ) So cute. What a wonderful aunt she is!

Looks like a wonderful idea to forgo formal school and get out in the woods, oh that more adults would be so wise. ; )

I'm sitting here in our living room taking a rest getting ready to go finish supper, our portable heater is going and my nose is cold. Just cranked that thing up!

Watching an old b/w movie, called 'The Big City' with Margaret O'Brien,Danny Thomas and that cute Irish actor too playing the Irish police officer. Adorable movie if you're looking for something in the background.

Take care now, keep warm, you're in my thoughts and prayers. So neat about the blessing given. I really do think it's so great that you are visiting, I'm not sure if I would have the strength as you do.

Love, Amelia
