This Woman's Daybook

Outside my window...the sun is shining and the temperature, at 10AM, is already in the upper 70's with the requisite unbearable humidity. No complaints here, though, since AC is standard in southern homes and, thanks to my wonderful family, I really have no obligation to leave my air conditioned home.

I am thinking...of all the blessings that have been bestowed on me in the past year. All of the people that have come into my life who have also helped me to carry the burden of my husband's accident and death as well as those who were there before and remain. Old friends are like the blocks and beams that make up the foundation and frame of a house while new friends are like the paint, draperies, and sundries that we use to make the home comfortable and a suitable retreat to help us shelter from the cares of the world. I am also thinking of the word friend and how the world has cheapened it in recent years. I grew up believing that a friend was not a casual thing but rather one, like the Velveteen Rabbit became so through association and the mutual giving of self. A friend, by it's true definition, is one who enhances our strengths and supplements our weaknesses all the while inspiring us to become better in the eyes of God, the penultimate friend.

I am thankful...for those who I call friend and who truly inspire me to become better in the eyes of God and, at the same time, worthy to call Him friend.;

One of my favorite things...is the color green! Living here in Tennessee is a green lover's paradise.

I am creating...a whole bunch of things. I have a quilt commission on the wall that needs to have borders put on and to be quilted. I have a wedding gift quilt that needs to be put on the frame and quilted. Most importantly I have a little boy's "tractor blankie" quilt that needs repair. The most important job of all is making sure that stuffed animals and blankies that enter my shop leave repaired and strengthened to receive the love that only a child can bestow upon them.

I am wearing...blue denim shorts and a green t-shirt. I have no plans to go anywhere today so at home wear is the order of the day.

I am reading...several books. Depending on where I sit: Gardening with Less Water by David A. Bainbridge, When You
Fast by Andrew LaVallee, and The Collected Poems of Robert Frost.

I am hoping...to get my current "patient" mended so that Auntie can deliver tomorrow on her way to school.

Here are some picture thoughts that I am sharing with you...

Our new home here in Tennessee. Of course, like any place that we have lived we are striving to make changes that will mark 30 Deerfoot Lane as uniquely our own.

 Look what we dug up during the excavation!

So glad to hear how you are. I too love the color green...Love your new place too...Have you heard of Father Cedric Pisegna? His program is called, 'Live With Passion', he's on my tbn station on Sundays, he's also on youtube and I particularly loved this past Sunday's program.

Thinking of you and praying for you, your prayers are always coveted too. That little excavation gem is a darling, what an angel!
